About us

Science Group’s CTO Forum tackles issues of material interest to R&D leadership with the goal of sharing insights and of developing actionable tools and methods that can be put to practice within the R&D function and so help companies tackle key challenges ahead.

To create these outputs, Science Group participates in (and facilitates) the Forum, regularly consulting with senior executives of the participating companies, drawing on its own wide base of knowledge and experience, and undertaking its own research. The CTO Forum is focused on actionable outputs and has produced two playbooks which are available for download from this website.

Bringing together technical leaders from around the world and from various positions in the supply chain created a fertile environment

The CTO Forum had representatives from multiple industries which operate in very different dynamics. In the beginning it was difficult to envision a common ground for sustainable innovation opportunities, but I quickly realized that we all had more in common than I originally thought.

We shared a common need, but the angle was different for everyone. This breadth of experience ensured the Net Zero Playbook we developed was both general and practical. It’s more than a checklist, but it’s not prescriptive.

The Playbook offers an excellent way to manage grand innovation challenges in a systematic way. It also helps create mandates, roadmaps, and ultimately programs that don’t just change the R&D portfolio but ultimately the culture of the organization.

It is anticipated that another Playbook will be produced in 2024-2025, if you would like to participate email us at ctoforum@sciencegroup.com

The NetZero Playbook was the first output from the Science Group CTO Forum and addresses how to make good on Net Zero pledges. The Playbook was first released in 2022 as an abridged version.

Growth & Sustainabilityarrow pointing right

This Playbook, released in February 2024, addresses the apparent Growth and Sustainability paradox. It is designed primarily for those leading R&D, innovation and other business functions that share the goal of realizing progress on sustainability whilst not compromising business growth.
